A simple celebration was held this week, at the Relining Rest Room to commemorate the timely hand over of the 100th pot.
Staref is a Joint Venture company established by STS Oman and Aluref from Richads Bay – South Africa. The Partnership was incorporated in late 2013 to provide specialist potshell maintenance services to Qatalum Aluminum Smelter in Qatar which is inclusive of all refractory and mechanical refurbishment of 704 pots.
Staref General Manager, Basie Sauer, thanked Staref employees for their support, cooperation and safe working attitude in completing 100 pots. He challenged the team to be more focused on working safely.
Key Qatalum employees were present, namely, Teodulo Uyanguren (Relining Planner), Luis Ferreira (Relining Super-visor) and Ibrahim Mohammad (Relining Supervisor) to grace the event.
Josef Otapka, Qatalum Superintendent- Relining, likewise gave a short speech of appreciation for the completion of 100 pots and to keep up with the good work as well as the quality and safety.
Lastly, Haakon Haakonsen (Qatalum Potline Manager) thanked the employees for their efforts. He stressed the importance of the employees working at “Ground Zero” and working at heights at the Pot Line and his satisfaction with the work being done.
